"WHO’S ABJECT NOW BITCH?" Afterparty and Jiggered Magazine Launch

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Time for capetonians to meet Jiggered magazine! Mix Tape collaborates with Jiggered to bring you a night of crazy creative explosions in the Mother City.

The party also serves as an afterparty to WHO’S ABJECT NOW BITCH?, a fine art exhibition which opens at 6pm at the YOUNGBLACKMAN across from the Kimberley Hotel.

Linda Stupart's WHO’S ABJECT NOW BITCH? or, CRIME SCENE CONSISTENT WITH A PARTICULAR DOUBLE HOMICIDE acknowledges and interrupts the artworld boys' club that is in many ways embodied by YOUNGBLACKMAN, in an exhibition that addresses the difficulties in claiming agency as a young woman artist. About Mixtape

Mixtape is a blog run (loosely) by Linda Stupart as a manifestation of a project in which she collaborates with a large group of smart, interesting, wonderful cultural producers. As such, Mixtape documents these collaborations. More than that, though, the blog serves as a space for each member of the project to post whatever they like: Tell us what they’re making, thinking, doing or, even, feeling. The blog also forms a space for Linda, a Cape Town based critic, artist, feminist, WWE fan and cultural commentator, to post her writing.
